Wine Tasting
Temecula, California, may have just 1/10th the number of wineries you find in Napa, but the local wine-tasting experience is earning high marks from travelers who have checked it out. Located just off the well-traveled Interstate 15, between Temecula vineyard Riverside and San Diego, the gently rolling hills and scenic vineyards of the Temecula wineries now are becoming a destination in their own right. Not just a gimmick to boost local tourism, the wineries of Temecula make good wine - and presumably good money - turning the fruit of the Valley into wines that are satisfying even the most sophisticated palates.
Temecula is located on Interstate 15, about half way between San Diego and Riverside. Much of the Temecula Valley Wine Country is just a few miles east of I-15 on Rancho California Road. Temecula is easily included in any Southern California vacation itinerary.
One of the fastest ways to develop a knowledge base of wines you enjoy is to taste them. This can be a lot of fun. Go to your local wine & spirits store; gather up a bunch of bottles and head home for a night of tasting adventures.
The matching of a wine to a particular food is quite a skill, but once your palate develops - all it takes is practice - the task will become easier. Food matching tips from the experts is a great place to start, and get a feel of wine-tasting terminology. An accurate description of a wine will make it much easier to match it up with a food.
